Getting started
QuietConnect lives in your menu bar (look for the headphones icon). Choose your preferred starting volume with the slider. Whenever headphones become your Mac's audio output, QuietConnect sets the volume to that level. You can still change the volume freely afterwards.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Free trial and purchase
QuietConnect is a free download with a 7-day free trial. Start it from the welcome window or the menu bar. When the trial ends, automatic volume stops until you unlock QuietConnect with a one-time purchase. There is no subscription, and you are never charged automatically.
Restore a purchase: click the QuietConnect icon in the menu bar. If the app is locked, Restore Purchases is at the bottom of the menu. During the trial, click Unlock next to the trial status to find it. Purchases follow your Apple Account, so they also work on your other Macs.
Refunds: purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Troubleshooting
The volume didn't change when my headphones connected. Check that the switch at the top of the QuietConnect menu is on, and that your headphones are the selected output in Control Center > Sound. You can also click Apply now to set the volume manually.
My Bluetooth speaker also gets the headphone volume. QuietConnect treats Bluetooth audio outputs as headphones. Turn the switch off while you use the speaker if you don't want that.
I don't want the confirmation banner. Open the menu, expand Additional options, and turn off Show banners.
Launch at login
You choose whether QuietConnect opens when you log in during setup. To change it later, open the menu, expand Additional options, and toggle Launch at login. You can also manage it in System Settings > General > Login Items.
Uninstalling
Quit QuietConnect from its menu, then drag QuietConnect from your Applications folder to the Trash. If you had Launch at login on, remove it from System Settings > General > Login Items.
